About Us

SPC was established in 1964 by Margaret John, Fellow of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

Margaret qualified in 1948 from Cardiff Royal Infirmary School of Physiotherapy. She was a founder member of many organisations within the profession, including sports medicine, acupuncture and the McKenzie Institute of Musculoskeletal Medicine, for which she became a national and international lecturer.

Margaret was a council member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy for many years, serving on various committees. Council awarded her a fellowship in 1995 for services to the profession and promotion of the McKenzie method.

She became Chairman, then President and was awarded Honorary Life Membership of Physio First, the Organisation for Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practice.

Margaret has been a well known and highly respected figure for many years and, although she doesn’t actively practise any more, she still keeps a watchful eye over her beloved SPC!!

The Practice has grown and developed over time. Rosemary, Margaret’s daughter, joined SPC in 1982, when the foundations were set for expansion.

SPC has always boasted a team of highly qualified Chartered Physiotherapists, changing and renewing over the years. Many of our associates have gone on to establish their own practices, to work in national and international sport and to become active within the profession on councils and committees, and we are immensely proud of them all.
