Clinical Pilates

40 MINUTE 1 TO 1 SESSIONS or WEEKLY 60 minute CLASSEs

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a form of exercise that emphasises the importance of “core stability” in the stomach muscles and base of the spine but also strengthens the whole body. Consisting of gentle, non-impact exercises, Pilates focuses on precision of movement, breath control and continued movement and can help with postural alignment and awareness, strength, flexibility and balance, whilst allowing you to work at your own level.

Pilates exercises have been found to be useful in managing back and neck problems as well as improving posture and core strength. Anyone can benefit from Pilates.

Clinical Pilates Classes

We usually run small Clinical Pilates Classes each week (maximum of 4 per class) where you will be in the hands of a fully qualified chartered Physiotherapist in our equipped and air-conditioned gymnasium. Our classes however are not running at this time due to COVID restrictions. We will be looking to reintroduce these classes in early 2023.

One to One Pilates Sessions

One to One Pilates’ sessions at SPC are with Laura Billing who is an experienced Chartered and HCPC registered Physiotherapist who is trained in Pilates.  Individual sessions are an excellent way of mastering the first steps and understanding the fundamentals of breath, alignment, stabilisation and mobilisation.

One to One sessions with a Physiotherapist mean:

 ·         your strengths and weaknesses are constantly addressed

·         sessions are tailored to your goals and needs

·         misalignment is corrected immediately

·         you can get feedback on your progress

Whether you are recovering from an injury or operation, want to tone your body, want to improve your general fitness and well-being or improve performance in a sport, such as running or skiing; then our one to one Pilates classes will help address your objectives and evolve and adapt around you.
